Australian director Baz Luhrmann, 59, looked distinctly different walking the red carpet at the AACTA Awards on Wednesday night.
The visionary behind films like Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet and The Great Gatsby, Luhrmann’s complexion was wrinkle-free, taut and tanned, with the director wearing a black suit, white shirt and silk neck tie.
The director has never addressed whether he has dabbled in cosmetic procedures or injectables. However the father-of-two has previously complained about not being able to hire actors who use Botox, as the anti-ageing treatment prevents them from showing emotion, complaining that “their faces can’t really move properly”.
Fellow legendary director Martin Scorsese has made similar complaints and famously declared in 2002 that no one over 35 in Hollywood can “do anger”.

For the past year, Luhrmann has been on the Gold Coast, filming his latest film, Elvis, which will focus Elvis Presley’s relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
The famous rock icon will be played by Austin Butler, with Tom Hanks winning the role of Colonel Parker. Slated for a June 24, 2022 release, Elvis will be Luhrmann’s biggest work since releasing The Great Gatsby in 2013.
Since his last feature film, Luhrmann also created the Netflix series The Get Down, which was cancelled after the first season.
